A potential Lions foe in 2013 hopes his move to England will help rekindle his World Cup dream.
Wallaby lock Peter Kimlin has signed a three-month contract with Exeter Chiefs in an attempt to force his way back into international reckoning.
Having recently been sidelined with nerve damage in his shoulder, the 25-year-old views the move to Devon as the perfect chance to remind Australia head coach Robbie Deans what he can do.
"Obviously my drive is to be in the World Cup," said Kimlin, who currently has two Australia caps to his name.
"The injury I had didn't help me, but the coaches told me to keep going, play some football and just get back out there.
"Coming to Exeter is a great way for me to show the people back home and the people over here that I'm back to my best."
With Deans and the Wallabies set to tour Europe next month, Kimlin won’t be relying on video footage reaching the other side of the world as he attempts to push his way back into the limelight.
And with the Chiefs surprising their critics with two wins from their opening five Aviva Premiership matches, Kimlin is convinced he’s in the right place to make an impact.
"Obviously I want to get involved with the first team as soon as possible," added the Brumbies back row cum second row.
"I don't mind playing six or in the second row. I can even play at eight as well, so I'm pretty easy as to where I play. I just like to get my hands on the ball and play some rugby.
"I haven't seen the town just yet, but the set-up here at the ground is just amazing. It's completely different to back home, but for a club in its first year in the Premier division, it's certainly very impressive.
"I know the game and the conditions will be a lot different. Back home the game is a lot faster because of the harder ground, so it might be a bit of a rude awakening for me.
"Coming here I think might be good for my body and my game. I just hope to gain a lot of experience from it."
