Ian McGeechan will run fitness tests on two players on the morning of the British & Irish Lions opening game against a Royal XV to see if they are fit to play.
There are concerns over an insect bite to Wales No 8 Andy Powell’s right hand that became infected. The other worry is over a calf strain sustained by Irish back row man Stephen Ferris.
Powell is due to start the game at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace at No 8, while Ferris is among the replacements. No replacements have been named by the Lions as yet should either Powell or Ferris fail their tests.
