Gavin Henson has been backed to shine in Wales’ autumn Tests next month but could first appear in Ospreys colours this weekend.
After three days training with Wales and Lions coach Warren Gatland, Henson returns to his region today (Thursday) to prepare for the EDF Energy Cup Pool C decider against London Irish on Sunday.
The golden boy of Welsh rugby made a try-scoring return for his region against Worcester last weekend after a two-match internal ban.
Now Ospreys coach Sean Holley reckons his star asset is on the right road to match sharpness ahead of Wales’ opening Test with South Africa on November 8.
"Gavin has worked really hard to get back to the highest level but he’s clearly in need of games,” said Holley.
"He’s such a talent that he needs to continue playing games. It’s a long season ahead but it’s great to see him fit, healthy and positive. It’s right to give him game time."
Henson has not featured for the national team since the Dragons’ Grand Slam triumph over France at the Millennium Stadium back in March.
The 26-year-old, who has 28 international caps to his name, missed the summer tour to South Africa after ankle surgery.
