London Wasps director of rugby Ian McGeechan has praised the 14 Wasps players who received call-ups to both the England and Saxons squads.
With Wasps providing more players than any other Premiership Club, nine to England and five to the Saxons, McGeechan paid tribute to Wasps ongoing commitment to English rugby.
"Everyone at the club is delighted for those named in the England squads. To have such a great Wasps presence in both the England and Saxons parties, reflects the clubs on going commitment to English rugby and the continued development of home grown talent.
“With the new RFU agreement in place this season we as a club face yet another tough challenge to balance the demands of domestic and international rugby, however we strive to produce players of the highest calibre and yesterday’s announcement is yet again proof of Wasps commitment."
On the news of Riki Flutey’s call up to the senior England squad McGeechan added: "I am delighted for Riki. Throughout the season he has shown himself to be one of the most exciting players in the Premiership.
“Both on and off pitch his dedication to Wasps has shown him to be a fantastic asset to the club and I am sure he will offer the same to the international environment."
McGeechan was also quick to praise Flutey’s fellow team mate Josh Lewsey, who has been recalled to England, saying: "This season Josh has proven his calibre as one of the greatest backs in the English game.
“He has consistently demonstrated his ability and I am delighted that he has been included in the squad."
