The Lions arrive in New Zealand: The best of social media

Greeted by a Maori conch, the Lions then received a wero – a challenge to determine whether the visitors come in peace – which was laid and accepted by Tour Captain Sam Warburton. The Lions were also greeted by a haka and waiata of Maori folk songs before responding in turn with the Welsh song ‘Calon Lan’ – led by Wales hooker and choirmaster Ken Owens.

And with this the first time the Lions have visited the land of the long white cloud in 12 years, the players were understandably desperate to take it all in.

They may have had a long flight, but that didn't stop them from having a celebratory song when touching down, with Leigh Halfpenny on hand to capture the moment.
