O’Gara captained his country, his club Munster and the Lions, winning four Triple Crowns and two Heineken Cups.

He is the all-time highest points scorer for Ireland and is the fourth highest points scorer in the history of International rugby union.

O’Gara played four games in the 2001 Tour of Australia, scoring 26 points overall. Four years later, in New Zealand, he made six appearances and played as a replacement in the third Test.

He captained the midweek team against the Emerging Springboks in 2009 and earned his second Lions cap in the Second Test. He retired from rugby in 2013 to focus on a career in coaching.
