Past captains
The British & Irish Lions have a storied tradition of leadership, with each tour showcasing captains who exemplify excellence and resilience.

Notably, Sam Warburton stands out as one of only two players to have captained the Lions on two separate tours, achieving this distinction in 2013 and 2017. In 2017, Peter O'Mahony led the team in the first Test against New Zealand, stepping in for the injured Warburton.

Alun Wyn Jones also made history by captaining the decisive third Test in Australia in 2013, securing the Lions' first series win in 16 years. Earlier, Paul O'Connell served as captain during the 2009 South Africa tour, following in the footsteps of legendary Irish forward Willie John McBride.

These leaders, among others, have been pivotal in upholding the Lions' legacy of unity and competitive spirit.
