Anthony O’Connor toured with The British & Irish Lions in 1962 and was never on the losing side in South Africa.
The scrum-half was second choice to Englishman Dickie Jeeps on the Tour and didn’t feature in the four Tests but was unbeaten playing in ten of the other Tour matches.
He won the first of his five Wales caps against South Africa at Cardiff Arms Park in 1960, while it was six days after his fourth appearance that he earned a call-up to the Lions.
After the 1962 Tour he won the last of his international caps for Wales in a 3-3 draw with Ireland at Lansdowne Road in November.
