Hooker Barry Williams made his Lions debut against Eastern Province in 1997 and made three further appearances on the Tour.

However, the Welshman failed to break into the Test side as Keith Wood and Mark Regan shared the No.2 jersey for the three-match series.

He captained the Ospreys to their first silverware when they were crowned Celtic League champions in 2005.

After a succession of injuries, he retired from rugby aged 34 in 2005. He made his international debut for Wales in 1996 against France and won his 24th and last cap in April 2002 against Scotland.
