A veteran of the Second World War, James William McKay, better known as Bill, would play all six the Lions Tests during the 1950 Tour to New Zealand and Australia.
The rugged No 8 only featured in a single Lions Tour but made a total of 16 appearances in the famous red jersey, adding to 23 in the green of his beloved Ireland.
Not only was McKay fearless in defence, but the back rower was also prolific in attack, scoring ten tries in his 16 Lions appearances.
The Irishman is considered one of the all-time Lions greats and, despite the 3-0 series loss to the All Blacks, left the four-month long Tour with his reputation enhanced.
