The versatile Keith Earls scored two tries in five warm-up matches on the 2009 tour of South Africa, though failed to win a Test cap.
Equally adept at centre or wing, Earls pulled on the famous red jersey for the first time against South African Royal XV.
His second cap came a week later against Free State Cheetahs, scoring one of two Lions tries in the match and later touched down in the draw with the Emerging Springboks.
Earls has won over half a century of caps for Ireland in his career but loss of form and fitness saw him miss out on selection for their back-to-back Championships in 2014 and 2015.
However he broke back into Joe Schmidt's plans ahead of the 2015 Rugby World Cup and scored three tries as the men in green made it to the quarter-finals.
