Rob Kearney burst onto the scene for the Lions on the 2009 Tour to South Africa.

Ireland's full back took over from the injured Lee Byrne in the first international against the Springboks and produced some scintillating displays throughout the Test series, claiming the Lions' solitary try in the Battle of Pretoria in the second rubber.

A two-time European champion, Kearney did not enjoy quite the same impact four years later on the Lions Tour of Australia as he was hindered by a hamstring injury.

With Leigh Halfpenny enjoying a series to remember in the famous No.15 jersey, the Irishman could not crack the Test side and had to settle for three tour appearances against the Waratahs, the Brumbies and the Melbourne Rebels.
