Norman Brand played six matches on the 1924 Tour of South Africa, including two Tests against the Springboks.

The Belfast-born forward played in the 7-3 loss in Durban and the 17-0 defeat in Johannesburg.
 
He won his only Ireland cap against New Zealand at Lansdowne Road in November of that year. The All Blacks won 6-0.
 
Brand died in 1938, aged just 39, when he accidentally drowned while saving someone in distress.
