Hawick-born Willie Burnet toured with The British & Irish Lions in 1888 to Australia and New Zealand after being selected for the inaugural Tour by Arthur Shrewsbury and Alfred Shaw.
Burnet and his brother Bob were the first of what has so far been 14 sets of siblings to Tour together for the Lions.
The forward was a regular throughout as he played 22 times, making his first appereance in the third match on Tour against Canterbury in a 14-6 win.
Burnet impressed more as the Tour progressed and he featured in the final six matches culminating in the 1-1 draw with Wanganui.
