William Oldham earned his place in Lions history when he went on the 1908 Tour of New Zealand and Australia under coach George Harnett and captain Arthur ‘Boxer’ Harding.

The Coventry RFC man – one of 14 forwards selected for that Tour – made 13 appearances for the Lions in total, including in the first Test against the All Blacks, which was a 32-5 loss in Dunedin.

Oldham scored his one and only try in the famous jersey as the Lions triumphed 12-3 over Manawatu/Horowhenua.
