He may have only played one full Test in the famous Lions jersey, but there is one performance for William Wallace that makes him a special part of Lions history.
While the Tour to South Africa in 1924 wasn’t the most fruitful for The British & Irish Lions, the centre stood out in one game early one, scoring five tries in a single match against Griqualand West, 15 points in a triumphant 26-0 victory.
That followed six points for Wallace in the previous match – his first on the Tour – then going on to play in the first Test in Durban.
It was to be the last Test action for the Englishman, scoring two further tries on the Tour, while he also missed out on international appearances for his country.
